Welcome new HPC Commissioner Brian Treece

Welcome to Brian Treece, who I understand is the City of Columbia's newest Historic Preservation commissioner!

Brian is 1/2 of the public relations firm Treece-Phillips and on theirwebsite, you'll see a nod to historic preservation at their JeffersonCity offices: http://www.treecephillips.com/

At this point in the commission's continuing evolution, Brian's experience, contacts, and can-do attitude will be invaluable, especially as our town is discovering the enormous public value ofhistoric preservation and how to keep it going, both politically and financially.

Brian is pictured here with his partner, Mary Phillips.

The City of Columbia, Missouri actively encourages historic preservation. Its Historic Preservation Commission, for instance, is a citizen-based board that advises the city council and other local groups on important issues surrounding the preservation of historic structures.

Commission members include Brian Pape, Jon Galloway, Mike Martin, Doug Sebastian, Brent Gardner, Mike Clark, Brian Treece, and city government liaison Mitch Skov. The Commission meets once monthly and holds a yearly reception for owners of "notable" historic properties.
